CAMRA and opera

Opera is significant part of CAMRA's eighteen-year story. Besides several Mozart operas, it presented:

• Purcell's Dido & Aeneas;
• John Gay's The Beggar's Opera; and
• four of Gilbert & Sullivan's inimitable comic operas:
  • Iolanthe,
  • Patience,
  • The Mikado, and
  • The Sorcerer

A 2009 workshop Polish up your G & S, followed by a G & S Concert with Singalong Chorus, was a fine opportunity to learn from English G & S specialist Stephen Brown. Stephen also gave a solo concert Five Knights and a Gondola
